Online Staff 2018

IMG_0434Anaya Truss-Williams is a rising senior at East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. When she is not writing for her school’s newspaper, The Eagle as Online Managing Editor, she gives tours of her school to alumni and prospective students. Truss-Williams also leads others within her community by serving as the student government secretary of her class and as an organizer for TEDxEastMeckHighSchool. In her free time, she likes to expand her knowledge of different languages and cultures.

IMG_0436Chase Miller is a rising junior at Northwood High School entering his third semester as a staff writer for the Northwood Omniscient (http://www.nhsomniscient.com). Next year, he will be the president of Toys for Tots club, a section leader in the marching band, a member of English Honors Society, and a Link Leader.  He has also been an avid and long-standing member of GLI, Relay for Life, Twelve, Key Club, Chess club, and French club. In his free time, he enjoys picking up instruments, volunteering, watching trashy TV, and going on adventures. Though he isn’t sure what he’ll do after graduation, he is sure he’ll be doing it somewhere far away.

Emma Pollard is a rising junior at Northwood High School. She has worked for their paper, the Northwood Omniscient (http://www.nhsomniscient.com/), for a year now, and wants to pursue a career in fashion journalism. When not in school, Emma dances competitively at her studio, and has dance almost everyday after school during the week. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her friends. After high school, she hopes to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design with a major in writing.

Simone Midgett is from First Flight High School on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She is the features editor of Nighthawk News and this is her second year on staff. She is a member of our environmental club, phytoplankton club and lacrosse team but on her free time she likes to go to the beach with her friends. She would like to attend North Carolina State University and major in business.

Grace Sullivan is a rising senior at First Flight High School who is also co-online editor-in-chief for  http://www.nighthawknews.com/. In her free time she enjoys going to the beach, driving through Nags Head Woods and making people laugh on Twitter. Grace hopes to attend NCSU and double major in Genetics and Political Science.

Cole Johnson is a rising senior at East Mecklenburg High school Charlotte, NC. As well as writing for The Eagle, He is a Taekwondo instrucotor. He has been doing Taekwondo for 12 years now and aspires to own a studio someday to spread the joy he had learning it over the years. He loves classic rock music and will name as many songs has he can.

 

IMG_0423Madison Clark is a rising senior and future editor of The Northwood Omniscient in Pittsboro, North Carolina. She often is working at various farmer’s markets around her selling fish from the coast. Other times, she is working with various herbs, trying make herself seem cool and interesting. Very rarely, you can catch her at her family’s restaurant carrying food to tables. She hopes to attend Boston University for journalism after she graduates next year simply because she cannot stand warm weather. She will travel to any country as long as she gets a fantastic culinary experience.

Katalina Uribe is a a rising senior at Carmel Christian School. She is a part of the editorial team in her school’s journalism class. She has had two years of creative writing class, and one year of journalism, under her belt. Ever since she was thirteen, she loved studying poetry and writing short stories. When she goes off to college, I hope to obtain a degree in secondary English education.

Bennett is going to be a junior at Carmel Christian School next year. He is a very fun and energetic person who is always in the mood for a good laugh. He loves to play various sports and also enjoys intellectual and strategic games. Being such a busy person, Bennett cherishes whatever free time he can get outside of a job, school, and babysitting his two crazy brothers. Next year will be Bennett’s first year in journalism at his school. He is excited to learn and grow throughout his journalism class next year.
